Travelling with infants and children

Infants are those passengers under two years old at the time of travel.

The youngest age an infant is allowed to travel is 48 hours old. We also advise you to ensure that the infant's doctor approves of the infant traveling.

An infant fare is charged at 10% of the adult fare booked when the infant does not occupy his or her own seat, but sits on an adult’s lap.

If you want your infant to have their own seat, you will be charged the applicable child fare. This can be booked online when making a reservation or added to your reservation at a later time. Please contact the OpenSkies reservations department. You will need to ensure that you have a suitable car seat, approved for use on aircraft.

There must be one adult accompanying each infant seated on an adult’s lap.

If one adult wishes to travel with a second infant, he/she must be seated in an approved car-type seat and will be charged the applicable child fare.

If your infant is less than 2 years of age at the beginning of the trip and will turn two during the trip, please call our reservations center to make the booking.

NOTE: It is a legal requirement that each passenger over the age of 2 occupies his or her own seat. Please ensure you make a reservation for a seat on the return journey. If you do not, you may not be able to travel.

Children Traveling Alone

OpenSkies understands that sometimes a child must travel alone. At OpenSkies we take great care in ensuring that our young customers traveling alone receive every care throughout their journey to make sure they have a safe and fun flight.

At OpenSkies, children who are under 12 years of age either must be accompanied by a person of 16 years of age or above, or the young customer must be registered with our Unaccompanied Minor service. The person accompanying the child may be a family member or an appointed guardian.

For reservations for children younger than 12 years old, please call us directly to book your flight and add the special care service for your child. We require information regarding who is accompanying the child to the departure airport and who will be meeting the child on arrival. For your child's safety, we must ensure that the sender, receiver and the child are all aware of who is responsible for the child on each side of the journey.

Our cabin crew will look after your child for the duration of the flight.
On some of our long haul flights, where several unaccompanied children are traveling together, we have dedicated escorts to assist the cabin crew.
